Our everyday choices have an impact no matter how small they may be

We are looking for forward thinking companies and stakeholders, regardless of size, in the construction sector to work with us in our mission to reduce and eradicate plastics in the built environment.  We believe that working together we can all help stop plastic becoming the asbestos of the future.

What we are doing

Our initial focus will be aimed at reducing and then eradicating the use of plastic in the construction industry. It’s the second biggest plastic user after the packaging sector and a change of direction in identifying and sourcing non-plastic alternatives is long overdue.

To achieve these aims we have created a number of strategies aimed at reducing the costs and risks associated with investing in change.

New paradigms require new technologies, processes and materials. Our everyday choices have an impact no matter how small they may be.

What’s in it for you?

You have decided to get involved with Changing Streams because our future deserves it and the next generation demands it.

Joining Changing Streams enables you to:

  • Receive support and advice on your procurement processes to identify how and where better choice can be made.
  • A set of guidelines to reduce the amount of plastic you specify, use, or consume.
  • Access to educational events which will occasionally showcase new solutions, systems and products which might be of interest to your company.
  • The opportunity to meet like-minded people with the same interest in reducing the negative impact we are having on the planet.
  • Opportunity to join online discussions to share knowledge
  • Leverage your supply chain and/or manufacturers to look at their systems and processes to reduce the amount of plastic used within the industry.

What can we offer?

Depending on your memberships level all money raised will go towards our mission of eradicating plastics in the built environment and enhancing our research facility within the University of Liverpool and our other partners through research, innovation and data gathering.

Working collaboratively with industry and higher education institutions from around the world we are developing an extensive database of products currently used or available in practice to identify the plastic content of these products. As a procurement specialist you will have access to this database which will help you in achieving your goals to reduce plastic consumption and use.

At the same time, we will be engaging with manufactures to carry out further research into how their products and systems can become plastic-free, or at the very least consume less plastic.

Changing Streams will also support you in your workplace to source alternatives to plastic along your supply chains, offering advice with your procurement procedures and linking you up with other Changing Streams partners and supporters throughout our networks. We will holding Changing Streams workshops online and, when the current COVID 19 crisis abates, in workplaces to raise awareness of the our work and to offer practical support to organisations who share our goals and values.
