Changing Streams is delighted to welcome Mark Lawler and his team from Baltic Creative Community Interest Company (CIC) as members.
Established in 2009, Baltic Creative builds and supports creative and digital communities and now owns and manages over 120,000sq/ft of flexible, affordable workspaces – housing over 170 businesses operating in the creative and digital industries. Through the CIC model, Baltic Creative reinvests all surpluses back into its property, the tenant community and the sector, playing a vital role in the regeneration of the Baltic Triangle and the wider Liverpool City Region as a whole.
Baltic Creative is a great addition to the Changing Streams organisation as we work with businesses across the UK to educate, inform and support those with a collective desire to considerably reduce the use of plastic in both packaging and materials. The ongoing climate crisis is one that cannot be ignored, with continuous action required to make the world a safer place, for both ourselves and future generations. There are various pathways that we are taking to support companies like Baltic Creative along the way.
As Mark Lawler, managing director of Baltic Creative states: “We are passionate about taking active steps to become more sustainable as a business, which is why we wanted to partner with Changing Streams, so that they can provide us with an extra helping hand in reaching our goal of becoming more environmentally friendly.
“We see ourselves and our tenants as role models and leaders in Liverpool’s creative and digital sector and we are aware that with small everyday changes, together we will be able to make a huge difference. We look forward to working with the Changing Streams team to tackle plastic pollution and hopefully inspire others around us to do the same.”
This drive and passion from the team at Baltic Creative, to take the Changing Streams mission onboard, not only in its business but through to its tenants too, is testimony to the growing awareness of the impact plastic has on the environment and the growing willingness from businesses and individuals to play their part in its reduction.
Starting its journey with Changing Streams will allow Baltic Creative and its community to work on recognising where and how plastics are being used, from both a construction materials and packaging perspective, as well as where they can make individual changes to day to day working practices.
Changing Streams is looking for companies and individuals who want to contribute in a positive manner. Our website provides further details about how to get involved by joining as a member or by donating your own money towards the research that we’re able to conduct as part of our vision for the future.
